BT Pulse Pedometer Count Steps ("Pulse Pedometer", package: com.bt.pulse)
Effective date: 3 July 2026 · Last updated: 3 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Pulse Pedometer ("the App", "we", "us") accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. Pulse Pedometer counts your steps and forwards phone notifications to your Bluetooth smartwatch. Our core design principle: your personal data stays on your device.

1. Information Processed on Your Device (never uploaded by us)

Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all of the above.

2. Permissions We Request and Why

The App requests several permissions. Each is used only for the feature described below, and the App remains usable if you decline optional ones:

PermissionWhy we need it
Physical activity (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION)To read the phone's step sensor and count your steps, including in the background.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)To show the persistent step-counter notification and reliability status.
Notification access (special access)To read incoming notifications so they can be forwarded to your paired smartwatch. Used only for relaying; see Section 1.
Bluetooth / Nearby devices (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT; location on Android 11 and below)To find, pair and stay connected to your smartwatch. We do not use Bluetooth scanning to derive your location.
Foreground service (connected device / health)To keep step counting and the watch connection running reliably.
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED)To resume step counting and the watch connection after your phone restarts.
Ignore battery optimizations (optional)To prevent the system from stopping step counting or the watch connection. Recommended, never required.
Internet / network stateUsed only by the third-party services below (ads, analytics, remote configuration, billing). Step, body and notification data are not transmitted.

3. Third-Party Services

The App includes the following third-party SDKs, which may collect device information as described in their own privacy policies:

None of these services receive your step history, body measurements, or notification content.

4. Your Choices

5. Data Retention & Security

Local data remains on your device until you clear the App's storage or uninstall it. Step history is kept for up to about 13 months on-device for the monthly statistics. Bluetooth communication with your watch occurs directly between your phone and the watch.

6. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)

Because personal data is stored on your device and not on our servers, access, correction and deletion are in your hands directly. For data processed by the third-party SDKs above, their policies describe your rights; EEA/UK users can also withdraw ad consent in-app at any time. For any privacy request or question, contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
